Coil Scales
Steel handling is the ultimate test for industrial equipment. Rice Lake's coil scales are uniquely suited to meet the demands of weighing dense material. For steel coils, castings, cable spools and more, see why Rice Lake coil scales are ideal for your application.
What Is a Coil Scale?
A coil scale is a Legal for Trade scales designed to meet the demanding requirements of weighing large, dense metals in bars, tubes, sheets, structural beams and coils. The capacity of a coil scale is much greater than an average floor scale, often reaching up to 100,000 pounds. Based on individual material handling requirements, these scales will be floor-mounted with an acceptable profile, or they will be installed in a recessed pit so the weighing platform is level with the floor.
A rail car coil scale is designed to allow coils to be moved on a rail system along a track. The scale is built into a section of the track and weighs coils once the rail car stops on the scale. This type of system increases efficiency and safety because it eliminates the need to remove the coil from the car. Rail systems are customized to fit each facility’s needs and space requirements.
