Manufacturing Training Program

About our program

Rice Lake Weighing Systems offers two training course options, Manufacturing Welder and CNC Machine Tool Operator. While you are training, you are a Rice Lake employee and will be paid for your time. When you are finished with your program, you will have all the skills to confidently complete a variety of production tasks within your position and become a full-time production team member with Rice Lake!

You will begin your training program with onboarding, which can be completed as full- or part-time hours. During the onboarding phase, you will spend your time working in different areas of manufacturing and learning the best fabrication techniques from our industry experts.

After onboarding, if you and Rice Lake agree that this is the right career path for you, you can start the technical portion of the training program. Your technical training will require you to work full-time and help kickstart your career with Rice Lake!

Technical training options

Manufacturing Welder

The welder training lasts for approximately 90 days, during which you will learn different welding processes such as gas metal arc welding and flux core arc welding. You will also be able to interpret weld symbols and learn non-destructive weld inspection techniques. After successfully completing the training program, you can begin your professional welding career.

CNC Machine Tool Operator

The machine tool operator training lasts approximately 90 days, and upon successfully completing the training you will be able to safely and efficiently manufacture components for some of the most robust scales in the industry. You will learn proper part inspection techniques and develop the knowledge to quickly resolve any technical issues that may arise during the machining process.

Is there tuition?

Rice Lake pays you throughout the entire program and covers the cost of training. After successfully completing the program, you will commit to full-time paid employment in production. The welder program requires a two-year commitment and the CNC program requires a one-year commitment. If you are unable to complete the employment commitment, we will work with you to set up a prorated repayment plan to cover the cost of training. Personal protection equipment will be supplied by Rice Lake or available for purchase at a discounted rate.

"It's a fun program, we learn the basics of welding and build on them to develop our skills. I am constantly improving and it's exciting to see my skill grow and know that I can do this."
