The summer 2015 edition of Rice Lake's magazine highlights exciting scale and process control applications around the world—including sites you might not expect.
From remote to local locations, there is no limit to where you will find Rice Lake.
Welcome to the summer 2015 edition of Rice Lake Magazine. The following pages highlight exciting scale and process control applications around the world—including sites you might not expect.
“A Treasured Island” begins our journey and has immense personal significance. The story features the use of a Competitor Series body composition analyzer (BCA) on the remote island of Yap, a western Pacific location I have been researching since 1988. My wife, Cherie, and I have visited Yap several times in an effort to find my uncle’s B-24 Liberator plane which crashed near the island during WWII. The search continues, but throughout the years, the people of Yap have provided invaluable assistance to me on this quest. The Competitor Series BCA is a donation from Rice Lake Weighing Systems to help aid the Yapese people in their efforts to create a healthier lifestyle on Yap. I helped coordinate this donation as a way to give back to the people who have given so much to me. It is incredible how this equipment’s amazing technology is being used on this secluded island.
A flavor of the tropics flows through subsequent stories as well. In Aloha Automation, Rice Lake indicators/controllers automate QUIKRETE® manufacturing in Hawaii. “Paradise Found” tells the fascinating story of Young Scale, the Hawaiian scale dealer that installed the QUIKRETE automation equipment, and Young Scale’s owner, an inspiring woman who ascended from waitress to business superstar. Traveling to Key Largo, Fla., Rice Lake’s MSI wireless solutions make a big splash in “Flipping for Wireless.”
In Ready to Roll, a Vancouver, Canada junk collection company is paving the roads of innovation with TradeRoute™ onboard vehicle scales. Closer to home, The Weight of Seconds explains how Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, Wis. uses a Rice Lake medical floor scale and indicator in their emergency department to determine incoming patient weight when accuracy—and every moment—is crucial.
This wide variety of locales demonstrates Rice Lake Weighing Systems’ ability to adapt to any environment and any requirement.
Whatever the need, and wherever the installation—Rice Lake is there.
