The Diversity of Digital Bench Scale Systems
Digital bench scales are used in almost every industry around the world, in businesses large and small.
With Rice Lake’s BenchPro™ Series
Digital bench scales are used in almost every industry around the world, in businesses large and small. Bench scales are often sought-after solutions because they are adaptable to many applications, environments and operator skill levels. From a law office needing to calculate postage for outgoing mail, to the family-owned deli around the corner, to the manufacturing and processing plants needing reliable shipping and inventory management scales—digital bench scales can do it all!
All-in-one digital bench scales have common characteristics, including the below features of Rice Lake’s new BenchPro digital bench scale series:
- Bench base with load cell(s)
- Integrated operator display
- Simple functions, such as units switching and zero
- Battery operation
When used for shipping in warehouses, digital bench scales are constructed to withstand larger capacities. The UPS® and FedEx® minimum weight capacity for a shipping scale is 150 pounds, which sets the industry standard. Like the BenchPro, shipping scales can include a plastic, matte shroud, which is ideal for pairing with a dimensioning system like the iDimension™ Series. The BenchPro shipping scale also connects with other software programs such as UPS WorldShip® and FedEx Ship Manager® using interface protocols.
If using a digital bench scale for postal operations, the ideal scale capacity is 70 pounds per the United States Postal Service® (USPS) and displays weight in pounds/ounces. Postal scales and shipping scales have similar functions with the primary difference being capacity and units displayed.
Digital bench scale systems are also ideal solutions for retail applications. Retail bench scales are available in the most variety of sizes and capacities in order to fit in checkout counters, delis, point-of-sale (POS) markets, and food service restaurants and cafeterias. Most retail applications will require either a 15- or 30-pound capacity scale. Retail scales are often equipped with an operator display and a customer-facing display for extra POS visibility.
Digital bench scales are diverse weighing solutions used in every facet of weighing. Rice Lake carries a line of durable BenchMark™ bench bases and Rice Lake indicator systems as well as our new line of BenchPro all-in-one digital bench scale and display systems. The world relies on weight, and you rely on Rice Lake’s bench scales.
